Back to School in Style

We started school on Monday, August 30th. I had little preparation because I had spent the last 4 months cleaning and organizing my house. Over the weekend, I noticed a post from the girls' cyberschool teacher and realized school was started Monday, not the Tuesday after Labor day like I thought. So, I jumped in. I knew we would get as much as they could done. The girls knew the routine anyway.

I was impressed. Even G finished her day's worth of work. And, all three girls are ahead of schedule. Impressive for the first three days. Already though, I can tell M will be struggling this year. She simply is struggling with concentrating on dictation. This doesn't help that she has a speech impediment and so does her mother--the one who facilitates the dictation.I may make Mr. Alphabet administer it. He's easier to understand, with being sans speech problems.

As I was looking over how to incorporate some "fun" and unity among the girls' activities--face it, three girls in three different levels is no "peace" of cake--I decided to announce we're making a collaborative family project--a magazine. The girls were excited and we immediately started to brainstorm. As M finished some work, and K started designing the cover, I started to go onto Publisher and design the book. I just haven't decided if this will be yearly, monthly, bi-annually, etc. Certainly, this is a great way to keep family and friends updated on the girls' progress. And, of course, incorporate skills like writing, art, and research into our day.
