I don't think we have provided a formal overview of our curriculum this year, so here it goes:
Math--all three girls are doing Singapore math. It's a hands-on approach and will help fill in the holes that American Math is leaving in their education. In the fall, they will be doing both their math programs (M&G Calvert; K Lincoln Interactive) and Singapore.
History, Geography & Social Studies: We are focusing on the Ancients this summer. The girls are delighted in this. I am using several books: Usborne's Interactive Encyclopedia of Ancients, World History & World Religions; Parragon Publishing's World History Encyclopedia; The Story of the World Part 1 (both book and activity book); Core Knowledge books K, 1, 2, 3, 4, &5 and several others will be included as we go.
Science: I am using the science textbooks provided by the cyber-school. I feel like we skimmed them so we will now go back a focus on the meat of the lessons. We will be tying this in with Usborne's Interactive Encyclopedia of Science and in conjunction with World History.
Art: We will be studying the ancients and doing hands on projects according to them. With K, I bought a college level Art History book to use with lots of pictures for the little girls to glance at as well.
Language Arts: I am waiting but we will be using Primal Myths, Parallel Myths, The Bible, and a college level book on the ancients. If I can do enough research, I'll look at the Magic Tree house series to see if any of them tie into the time period.
