We spent the weekend making a closet (really, it has taken longer since I think we started this 2 weeks ago). Yes, it takes an entire weekend to build one simple closet. It does make me wonder about these new homes that are built in a 3 month time span. But, I sure hope they have more than just 2 people working on it. In addition, we took a family break and froze our asses off at Ice Fest. The girls had the time of their lives. Chris loved the chili cook-off. I just froze.
Since we had a weekend filled with Ice Fest and renovations, we did not go through any of our "stuff". Is this like when you write a paper and have to set it aside for awhile because you aren't catching all the mistakes anymore? I think it is. Or maybe it's wishful thinking. I would have liked the momentum to have gone on for a bit longer. But, we have nothing pushing us anymore or directing us. But, then again, our rationale is that we'll have a closet to put all the coats in. Are we right? or should we still stop the renovations and push forward with the sorting?
We have many times "sorted" things. I do have to say that this last sort produced 25 trash bags so it was by far the most successful. Also, I was willing to get rid of broken toys--an unheard of thing in the past. But, we had the whole out of sight, out of mind mentality last time. When we grew tired, we stopped, put it in the basement or one of our rooms and shut the door. Until it spilled into every aspect of our house. I have to wonder if I should truly rely on my own advice to get to a clean house.
Oh, by the way, the living room is still clean.
